A 21-year-old driver was critically injured in a crash Thursday, after he tried to pass another vehicle on the roadway in Baldwin, Maine.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office tells NBC10 Boston affiliate News Center Maine that the crash occurred around 5:10 p.m. near 1230 Pequawket Trail and involved two vehicles.

Officials say Ashtin Harding, of Denmark, was in a Ford F-150 when he attempted to pass a Subaru Outback being driven by a 20-year-old man from Baldwin. Both vehicles came into contact, causing the drivers to lose control and sending the vehicles off the roadway.

Harding was flown by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, officials said, according to News Center Maine. The
