It’s not quite a coach and not quite an essential fitness tool, but Apple’s latest foray into the fitness tech world does want to be your “Workout Buddy.”

The aptly named feature is powered by artificial intelligence and will be available for walkers, runners and lifters later this year.

Apple Intelligence, the tech giant’s AI, will power watchOS 26’s new exercise feature — Workout Buddy. The feature is designed to analyze the user’s workout data and fitness history in order to personalize motivational messages for their workouts.

“Way to get out for your run this Wednesday morning,” Apple gave as an example in a recent news release . “You’re 18 minutes away from closing your Exercise ring. So far this week, you’ve run 6 miles. You’re going to add to that today.”
