Sakonnet Vineyard will host a dog adoption event from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 17. The event is in partnership with Lighthouse Animal Shelter in New Bedford, according to a community announcement.

Attendees can meet adoptable dogs and learn about the adoption process. They also can enter to win themed gift baskets. The vineyard will offer wine by the glass or bottle, tastings and seasonal dishes from its café.

The event is free, but adoption fees may vary. Reservations are not required, and wine and food will be available for purchase.
