MUSCATINE, Iowa (KCRG) - Community members are calling on the Muscatine County Attorney to sign a U visa for a Muscatine resident and crime victim.
In June, Felipe de Jesus Hernandez Marcelo was on his way to his construction job when two people shot him and attempted to steal his car.
Muscatine County Attorney Jim Barry placed Hernández in jail on a material witness hold. The Attorney also refused to sign his U visa, which serves as a federal protection for crime victims who cooperate with police.
On Friday, community leaders and family members are speaking out in support of Jesús Hernández and demanding the Muscatine County Attorney sign his U Visa.
