One landscape worker was killed and another seriously injured after their equipment made contact with power lines Thursday in Salem, New Hampshire , according to officials.

The workers were using a manlift to trim trees and bushes near the Service Credit Union at 158 North Broadway when the lift made contact with live power lines at about 1:30 p.m., according to Salem Assistant Fire Chief Kennett Colby.

One worker died at the scene, while the other was rushed to a Boston-area hospital, Colby said.

He said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Department of Labor, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner have all been notified.
