ANCHORAGE, Alaska — President Donald Trump will host his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin , for a meeting here Friday in an audacious bid to broker a peace deal and stop a three-year war with Ukraine and its ever-rising body count. Trump spent the run-up to the summit tempering expectations that it would produce a breakthrough, casting it instead as a prelude to an as-yet-unscheduled meeting that would include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
