HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A Huntsville man has been charged with murder after a deadly stabbing took place on Thursday night, authorities said.

Huntsville Police said that officers responded to the 3900 block of Battlefield Drive for a reported cutting in progress around 11:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, the Huntsville Police Department said officers found a man on the porch, later identified as 34-year-old Daeshawn Lewayne Garner.

When officers began their investigation, HPD said Garner was detained.

Inside the house, HPD said officers found another man suffering from knife wounds. Despite efforts to save him, the department said Phillip Ladarous Garner, 35, of Huntsville, died from his injuries.

A second victim, an adult female, was also found inside the house with non-life-threatening knife
