SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - A Springfield man faces charges for a shooting investigation.

Prosecutors charged Abel Johnson with unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. A judge ordered him held on a $50,000 bond.

Officers responding to the shooting on West Lindberg on August 13. They found broken glass and shell casings. Investigators say security footage showed Johnson walking up to an SUV as it was driving away and starting to shoot. Police say a victim inside the SUV was hit by gunfire.

Investigators say Johnson claimed he was trying to help another person, who was being assaulted. They say he claimed he only started shooting when the driver aimed a gun at him. Investigators say the security video does not show the driver with a gun.
