SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Springfield city leaders say the $24.8 million RAISE grant to expand the Ozark Greenways trails is still in play.

In February, the city learned the RAISE grant was being paused in the wake of federal budget cuts and uncertainty.

The money is for a project called “Ungap the Map.” That’s an effort to build three miles of Ozark Greenways trails to connect several neighborhoods on the west side.

It would extend the trails from College Street to downtown Springfield.

Trails would also be built to connect Nathanael Greene Park and Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park to the center city.

Amanda Ohlensehlen, Springfield’s Director of Economic Vitality and Workforce Development, said the grant was awarded during the Biden Administration.
