A quick-thinking Tilbury storm chaser photographer caught an impressive photo of a wind turbine being struck by lightning – and it wasn’t the first time.

Barb Arsenault and her husband, Mitch Arsenault, a fellow storm chaser photographer, were out just before 11 p.m. Tuesday “trying to capture some sky-to-ground lightning” when she got the shot.

Arsenault said they had pulled into wind turbine driveway on Davidson Road, just outside Tilbury, to photograph lightning heading over Chatham to the east.

With a second storm approaching from the west, they had little to capture photos before the next system hit, she said.

“We turned our cameras towards the west and we got a huge lightning strike,” Arsenault said.
