A Glasgow convenience store owner has voiced concerns that the approval of an alcohol licence at the cafe next door could have a negative impact on his business.

Mr Kawa presented his objections to Glasgow City Council’s licensing board on Friday afternoon when a representative from Kozi Cafe, based at 49 High Street, applied for both an on and off licence.

He advised the board that he has no objection to the on sales licence but did object to the business being granted an off sale as it is next door to his shop which sells alcohol between 10am and 10pm.

Mr Kawa was advised by the chairwoman of the board, Bailie Margaret Morgan, that members did not usually consider “competition" as a complaint.
