LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - Officials have released a report over recent deaths in Nebraska that stem from domestic violence.

On Friday, the Domestic Abuse Death Review Team shared that since July 21, 2022, there have been 72 domestic violence deaths in the state.

According to a release sent Friday, the group may identify additional deaths as more information becomes available.

Officials look at contributing factors related to those that have died from domestic abuse, as well as the perpetrators and systems responsible. The report is meant to spread awareness with a goal to prevent future violence in the state.

“Domestic abuse death cases are reviewed only after the criminal case has been finalized or a perpetrator’s death occurs,” the release states.
