PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families has disclosed the death of a two-month-old child.

The DCYF investigation determined that the death was caused by maltreatment.

The incident occurred on July 19 and the Office of the Child Advocate was notified.

DCYF said that the family and child were not open to the department at the time of the incident.
