LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Footprints of Michigan will host its 3rd Annual Kickz for Kidz Shoe Giveaway on Saturday, August 16.

The event aims to provide new shoes to local children and teens in need before the start of the school year.

At last year’s event, 785 youth received a brand-new pair of shoes.

“I know we can’t help everyone, but we are trying our best to fulfill some of the needs in the community,” said Geronimo Lerma, Executive Director of Footprints of Michigan. “A pair of shoes may seem small, but for a child facing hardship, it can mean comfort, confidence, and the ability to fully participate in school and activities.”

Shoes will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

The event will take place at noon-4 p.m. at St. Joe Park, 2125 W. Hillsda
