FLINT, Mich. (WNEM) - Two children were rescued from a Flint hotel room after being kidnapped by their non-custodial father five months ago, according to Michigan State Police.

MSP said Flint Post troopers rescued a 4-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy, siblings, from deplorable conditions Wednesday night.

The children had been kidnapped by their non-custodial father five months ago, MSP said, and their mother had been searching for them since.

MSP said a Decatur, IL PD detective contacted Flint area law enforcement on Aug. 13 after the father’s phone pinged his location near the Red Roof Inn on Miller Road in Flint Township.

Troopers began looking for information to corroborate the ping, MSP said, including social media posts in coordination with Decatur PD detectives. Undercover troop
