INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis metro police say they have freed an 18-year-old woman who was a victim of human trafficking.
The investigation started as a welfare check on Thursday, Aug. 14. Officers went out to the 9000 block of Wesleyan Road at a hotel near the intersection of North Michigan and Vincennes roads on the northwest side of Indianapolis.
According to IMPD, officers became concerned that the 18-year-old woman at the scene was a victim of human trafficking. Police got a search warrant and found a 31-year-old alleged trafficker and another potential victim.
Police say they found drugs and evidence of "commercial sex acts."
