(WTAJ) — Gideon, a specially trained service dog, is making a significant impact by providing emotional support to his handler, Christine Friedl, and others in need.

Christine Friedl, who has faced challenges such as depression, hearing loss, and cancer, credits Gideon with helping her heal and improve her well-being. Gideon has shown an extraordinary ability to sense when others need compassion, as demonstrated during a visit to a man in the ICU.

"Gideon was recommended by my doctors and I wasn't in a suicidal place. I was just in a dark depression, and then I lost my hearing. And then I got diagnosed with cancer. And so he helped me heal, and he helped me get better," Friedl said.
