A bat found at a daycare in Brantford has tested positive for rabies .
Families at Creative Minds Daycare were notified by letter on Aug. 13 after the test result came back positive for the virus, according to a release from Grand Erie Public Health (GEPH).
Everyone who had direct contact with the bat has been “identified and contacted” and advised to get a post-exposure vaccine to prevent rabies, the release said.
“Out of an abundance of caution,” the daycare, which is located on Wade Avenue in West Brant, will be closed until the facility has been “fully inspected” and it is clear “no additional bats are present,” it said.
