Tired, injured and stressed, a Kitchener couple is pleading with Air Canada to bring them home from Iceland after their flight was cancelled due to the flight attendant strike.
Diane Kilby and her wife, Jan Baker, had been planning to visit the Scandinavian fjords in Iceland and Norway for years and finally pulled the trigger on a getaway of a lifetime.
The married couple, both in their late 70s, are now stuck on the Nordic island as Air Canada plans to cancel around 500 flights, affecting an estimated 130,000 travellers and leaving 25,000 Canadians stuck abroad.
“Air Canada has not stepped up to the plate at all other than saying, ‘Oh, we’re so sorry those CUPE people made us cancel the flight,’” said Kilby.
“We’re at the Golden Circle of Iceland, which is beautiful … and we’ve missed
