WHITE PINE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Newport man has been charged a second time in a 2024 fatal White Pine road rage shooting after the first charge was dropped.

Thursday evening, the White Pine Police Department announced that Derwin Wilds, 59, of Newport, was indicted by the Jefferson County Grand Jury on four counts stemming from the September 23, 2024, shooting. The department said he was arrested on August 14 and is facing charges of: • Voluntary manslaughter • Employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony • Aggravated assault involving a deadly weapon discharged from a motor vehicle • Aggravated assault resulting in death
