(KRON) -- A 14-year-old girl who was a passenger in a solo-vehicle hit-and-run collision in Novato has died, police announced Friday.

The 14-year-old girl, who has not been publicly identified at this time, had sustained critical injuries in the crash that occurred Wednesday around 3 a.m. on Ignacio Boulevard. Another passenger, a 15-year-old boy, was hospitalized with moderate injuries and was released from the hospital, police said.

“We want to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the 14-year-old girl who lost her life,” Novato PD wrote in an update Friday. “This is a heartbreaking loss for her loved ones and our entire community.”
