Were Canada Day celebrations in Lakeside Park a little too well attended this year?
Port Dalhousie councillors Bruce Williamson and Marty Mako have asked St. Catharines city staff to report back on what can be done to “improve the experience, enhance public safety and to mitigate issues” at the Lakeside Park July 1 festivities and other formal city-run events.
The report will also look at the possibility of creating a special events advisory team committee, which brings different departments together when planning a large-scale event.
“Since COVID, Port Dalhousie’s back ablazing and in the summertime, it’s very busy on an average weekend,” Mako said in an interview.
