ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - MARTA has reopened an escalator that left multiple passengers injured following a Beyoncé concert in July.
On Friday, the transit agency said it completed its investigation into the incident, concluding that overcrowding caused the escalator to speed up – which fits with what MARTA said shortly after it happened.
Just after midnight on July 15, following Beyoncé’s final Cowboy Carter performance at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, an escalator at the Vine City station “became overloaded when a concertgoer screamed upon seeing a bug, causing a crowd to rush onto the escalator,” MARTA said Friday, echoing its initial conclusion.
