LUCKEY, Ohio — Cleanup at Luckey’s Cold War weapons site has stopped after a Michigan court barred shipments of hazardous waste from Ohio and four other states.

Wayne County Judge Kevin Cox signed an injunction barring Wayne Disposal, Inc., a waste management company in Michigan, from accepting hazardous waste from cleanup sites in five states, including the site in Luckey, the Army Corps of Engineers told The Blade in an email.

The Army Corps of Engineers said cleanup at the site, which is a part of the corps’ Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program, or FUSRAP, will resume once it and its contractors have determined “a path forward,” a spokesman said. “We are aware of the recent court ruling in Michigan regarding the Wayne Disposal, Inc. facility.
