A Rhode Island town's fire marshal has been arrested on suspicion of having sexually explicit chats with people he thought were children, including a 15-year-old girl, as well as receiving images depicting child sex abuse, prosecutors said.
Jeffrey Almond, of Lincoln, Rhode Island, was indicted on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography, as well as attempting to transfer obscene material to a minor, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for Massachusetts. The 41-year-old appeared in a Providence court Friday, ahead of a planned appearance in federal court in Boston.
