BAKER COUNTY, OREGON, Ore. — A 43-year-old Utah man was arrested Thursday after starting a fire that burned 144 acres east of Interstate 84 near Lime, Oregon.
According to the Baker County Sheriff's Office , dispatch received numerous reports of the fire at approximately 1:04 p.m. Aug. 14 near Exit 342. Multiple fire resources, including air and ground crews, responded to the scene.
Deputy Rosin and Undersheriff Durheim responded and were notified of a cargo trailer that appeared hastily parked in a pullout off Highway 30. No vehicles were located nearby, and attempts to determine the registered owner were unsuccessful.
The office stated that BLM Vale District Fire Management Specialist Al Crouch found an abandoned campsite approximately a half-mile from the cargo trailer. Items found
