ROSEBUD, Mont. – Before law enforcement arrived at the scene of a burglary in progress, suspect Dustin Day stole a pickup truck attached to a food trailer in an attempt to drive away.
Rosebud County Sheriff’s Office received the call about the burglary on August 13 around 3:30 p.m., but when Undersheriff Scott McDermott arrived at the scene, Day hit his patrol car with the food truck.
The food truck’s strike left the patrol car disabled, and Day drove away west on Old Highway 10 with Deputies Riley Paris and Allen Fulton in pursuit.
The chase proceeded towards Forsyth.
Around mile marker 4, Deputy Scott Upchurch set up spike strips in hopes of ending the chase, but Day tried to turn towards the interstate.
The food truck failed to make the turn and crashed through a fence.
