WELLS, Maine — A Wells resident was charged with assault on firefighters who were responding to a fire at their home on Clark Road last Tuesday .

During response efforts, the resident arrived on scene, ran into the smoke-filled building, went upstairs, and allegedly assaulted four firefighters as they made their way past them to look for their cats. This is according to a social media post from the Wells Fire Department, who said the news release was meant to clear up "misinformation that has been released."

The post did not name the resident.

Wells police who were also on scene quickly intervened by entering the home to arrest the resident. After talking with firefighters, police decided to charge them with assault on a firefighter.
