PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A Multnomah County Facilities employee was arrested Thursday for shoplifting from a Jantzen Beach hardware store, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Shortly after 6 p.m., officers responded to the store in the 1700 block of North Tomahawk Island Drive, where store employees said they had detained a suspected shoplifter.

Store employees told police that the suspect, identified as 55-year-old Leonel Sandoval of Scappoose, had driven up in a county vehicle and was dressed in his work uniform. Then, Sandoval allegedly selected $785.85 of flooring product, walked past the checkout stands without paying, and then tried to return the unpurchased items.
