The defense team for a former Kentucky sheriff accused of shooting and killing a judge in his chambers is seeking a $50,000 bond.

Mickey Stines was arrested and charged with murder after investigators said he shot and killed Judge Kevin Mullins inside his chambers.
In a hearing on Friday, a defense attorney for Stines argued for a $50,000 cash or property bond, saying he is “not a flight risk and poses no danger to himself or the community,” according to The Associated Press.
Prosecutors in the case responded that Stines should not be entitled to bond, saying he has been charged with a capital offense.
