OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - More rounds of storms within the past week have continued to help with the drought situation in the Omaha area.

Now, there is only one small pocket of moderate drought in Otoe County. The rest of our viewing area is drought free, with abnormal dryness still in places around the southwest portion of our viewing area.

There is a significant decrease in both abnormal dryness and moderate drought when compared to last week’s drought monitor.

For the season of summer, Omaha is doing very well on rainfall numbers with over an 1.25″ above average so far. August is about 0.25″ above average, but the Omaha area is still over 2″ below typical rainfall amounts by this point in the year.
