DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - A popular home furnishing company is looking to revitalize the old Wagener-Ohlandt building on East Bay Street. However, concerns about the design fitting in with the historic area have put the plans on hold.

Charleston is full of historic buildings. The historic East Bay Street building dates back to 1880, and has been vacant for 7 years. "RH", previously known as Restoration Hardware, hopes to bring new life to the area.

“I just hate to see beautiful historic buildings not being used. So having something that's useful and good as Restoration Hardware, come into that area, would be phenomenal.” said Norma Cable. Cable is a local artist, part owner, and vice president of the Lowcountry Artist Gallery, which neighbors the historic building.
