EDGEFIELD, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Three people were injured and two were arrested as a dispute played out on social media, ending with a shooting that was livestreamed on Facebook.
The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office responded Friday morning to the shooting soon after 11 a.m. on Hickory Street.
Three people were hurt in the incident that happened just across the street from a church. One of them had to be airlifted to an Augusta hospital.
Two people were taken into custody, the sheriff said.
One witness reported hearing 15 shots in rapid succession.
Another witness said, “It sounded like someone emptied their clip.”
Hickory Street, a hairpin-shaped route with a dead end, was completely blocked after the shooting.
