PEORIA COUNTY ( 25News Now ) - Late last week, Liberty Steel & Wire asked Peoria County Government to pause approval on a loan for a new piece of equipment.

The manufacturing process for that equipment has been delayed, and the two groups will likely circle back to this issue in January or February 2026. The approval of the loan was taken off the agenda for a recent county board meeting.

Prior to this request from Liberty Steel, the county’s internal loan review committee did a comprehensive examination of the loan application and the company’s finances. The committee unanimously recommended that the loan be granted.
