The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will reopen Saturday following multiple days of technical issues.
“We wish to extend our thanks to Tram patrons for their patience during this unexpected shutdown,” Tramway Manager Nancy Nichols said in a statement. “Our Tramway systems team worked tirelessly to isolate then replace the malfunctioning part. We are now eager to welcome back guests to the Tramway and the Mt. San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness.”
The closure was first reported last Friday due to unforeseen issues in its electronic system.
On Monday, officials said a motor contactor that supplies power from the tram drive to the tram motor was at fault, and a replacement part was ordered.
The tram will operate from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, and the last tram down will be at 10:30 p.m.
