SALT LAKE CITY — It’s move-in week at the University of Utah and the campus is welcoming 5,600 students who were settling into the dorms on Friday, many for the very first time.
Ezra Jensen and his parents traveled 800 miles from Spokane, Washington to get the incoming freshman settled at the University of Utah.
“We’ve got tennis racquets, bikes, spike balls, soccer cleats, golf clubs and bedding,” said Maddy Jensen, his mom.
It’s Ezra’s first time living away from home.
“I’m a little nervous, but excited.”
Mom said it’s bittersweet.
“Really sad. He’s our only boy,” she said. “It’s also good to see him do what he’s ready to do.”
Across campus, the move-in machine is in full swing. Volunteers, staff and students unload cars and roll carts stacked with dorm essentials.
“As folks ar
