CITY SCHOOL BOARD members have voted to approve using $1,068,490.86 from the school district’s Teaching and Learning Trust to purchase curriculum resources for the upcoming school year, but not before some members took additional shots at the budget they were given by aldermen.

Aldermen set the Manchester School District budget at $237.9 million, an increase of $3.5 million over the current budget and $1.5 million more than Mayor Jay Ruais allocated for education in his budget proposal.

Manchester school administrators have said that their goal moving into the new budget cycle is to integrate curriculum expenses into the general operating budget, but this year -- as in recent budget cycles -- funds will be pulled from the Teaching and Learning Trust.
