ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The drive to the top of Kennesaw Mountain from the visitors center off Stilesboro Road is about a mile and a half long.
When you get to the top, there are beautiful skyline views and placards marking historic civil war battles. Visitors can also walk, run, hike and bike up the mountain.
But with an average of about two million guests per year, park superintendent Patrick Gamman says it’s time to separate pedestrian traffic from vehicle traffic.
“There’s been studies done, and they’re saying someday you need to stop driving cars up the mountain. That day has come,” Gamman said.
Right now, cars are only allowed to drive up the mountain Monday-Friday, not weekends or holidays.
