PORTLAND, Maine — Portland police say a suspect is in custody after a bank robbery on Forest Avenue on Friday, according to a social media post.

The robbery took place at the University Credit Union.

Officers were called to the credit union at 391 Forest Ave. at 2:07 p.m. after a man reportedly fled with $100 in cash. Police said no weapon was seen during the robbery.

Authorities said video surveillance helped investigators identify and locate the suspect later in the day.

Kenneth Morey Jr., 64, of Portland, was arrested and charged with robbery, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and theft, according to police. He had allegedly stolen a car earlier in the week.

Morey Jr. was brought to the Cumberland County Jail.
