MIDDLETON, Wis. (WMTV) - Nonprofit organization Friends of Ukraine is getting ready for Sunday’s Ukraine Fest.

The event comes as President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are meeting in Alaska , without Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Allison Suchon, a board member of Friends of Ukraine, said Ukrainians in Madison are feeling the emotional toll from the war.

“It is very difficult, especially this summer,” said Suchon. “July was one of the most difficult months of the war. It was one of the months with the highest civilian deaths.”

Suchon said Friends of Ukraine serves Ukrainians in Madison, and this weekend’s event is one example of that.

The fourth annual Ukraine Fest runs from 2-5 p.m. at Lakeview Park, in Middleton.
