INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- The long-awaited completion of the Independence Square construction project is coming to an end sooner than expected.

It's good news for many, especially since the SantaCaliGon Days Festival is exactly two weeks away. Hundreds of thousands of people annually flock to the square for the event.

Some cones and work crews remain, as finishing touches are being made.

Since FOX4's last report, all roadways throughout the Square are open.

"It definitely always feels little bit of an imposition when the street you are used to turning on might be blocked and you have to go over a block, but in reality, not too bad considering the scope of the work that had to be done,” Jeff Rogers, the Executive Director of the Independence Square Association said Friday.
