• Indiana State Police are planning sobriety checkpoints across the state this month.

• The Indiana State Police will ramp up traffic enforcement in preparation for the Labor Day holiday, when people have been known to imbibe alcohol while trying to enjoy the end of summer.

• State troopers will aim to prevent impaired driving with increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints from Aug. 16 through Aug. 30.

•The Indiana State Police encourages people to plan for transportation before drinking, such as by having a designated driver, calling a taxi, or summoning an Uber or Lyft.

• The Fatality Analysis Reporting System estimates that about 14% of all traffic fatalities in the Hoosier State involve alcohol, while more than 35% involve drugs.
