No cease fire has been announced, and no details have been released, but both Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump indicate that progress has been made in discussions to bring an end to the war in Ukraine.
The grinding, three year war, which began with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February of 2022, has resulted in heavy losses on both sides.
The two leaders held a brief news conference at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska after about two and a half hours of discussions.
They did not take questions from reporters.
Neither Trump nor Putin revealed any details, but the U.S. President said they’ll “get there” in reaching a deal, indicating that they have agreement on a number of points, but one big point remains unresolved.
