LOGAN COUNTY, W.Va . (WSAZ) - Teachers and staff from Verdunville Elementary are still setting up their classrooms in another school following a sudden closure announced at the end of July.

“It was a shocker out of the gate,” Logan County Schools Superintendent, Dr. George Aulenbacher, said. “They love their school. They love their kids. It’s been evident across the entire process.”

Dr. Aulenbacher said all Verdunville Elementary teachers have now moved into Omar Elementary after Verdunville was closed due to safety concerns.

Those concerns came to light following a rockslide slip that happened in early April.

“The principals and staff have been fabulous with the move,” Dr. Aulenbacher said. “It’s a difficult situation, but they have been very very good about it.”
