A surge of monsoon moisture is bringing back rain across parts of New Mexico. The chance for rain will continue through the weekend.

Moisture has increased dramatically across New Mexico Friday bringing clouds and scattered showers and storms. This has also brought in cooler temperatures, with highs this afternoon as much as 10° to 20° cooler than this time yesterday. Most of the rain will end overnight, but a few spotty showers will stick around parts of the Rio Grande Valley and eastern New Mexico to start the day Saturday.

More showers and storms will develop across New Mexico Saturday and Sunday afternoon. However, drier air will move into northwest parts of the state. Storms will be capable of heavy rainfall which could lead to flash flooding, especially over the Ruidoso area burn s
