The driver of a semi was killed Friday morning after he was involved in a crash with another semi in Lowell.

Around 9:30 a.m., Lake County Sheriff’s Office Police responded to a report of a collision involving two semis near Indiana 2 and Union Street, according to a news release.

One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released yet, pending family notification, by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

The condition of the other driver is unknown, the release stated.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Indiana 2 was closed for several hours due to cleanup from the crash, which required members of Lake County’s Hazardous Materials Response Team and the Lake County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management to respond. Originally
