Vance Nabeta is set to assume the role of chief of police on Aug. 19. He was formerly the interim chief of police. His law enforcement career began at the Marysville Police Department in 1993. Nabeta worked as a patrol officer, on special task forces, and as a special agent with the California Department of Justice, according to the City of Marysville. He also joined the San Bruno Police Department as a detective in 2012, before retiring in 2020 and then returning to work full-time in Marysville in 2025.
