CHEHALIS, Wash. — A man accused of stealing a dump truck from a Lewis County roofing company led law enforcement on a dangerous multi-county pursuit Friday before crashing near Shelton, according to Washington State Patrol.
Trooper Katherine Weatherwax said the call came in around 9:30 a.m. reporting a dump truck, marked with “Top Weather Roofing,” driving erratically. The vehicle, reported stolen from Lewis County earlier in the morning, entered Kitsap County from state Route 16 at a high speed.
Witnesses told investigators the driver went on and off the shoulder and nearly collided with other vehicles. Over the course of the pursuit, the driver forced at least six vehicles off the road.
A trooper caught up to the truck near Gorst and initiated a pursuit as it traveled north on state R
