CANADIAN, Texas (KFDA) - Only one Texas Panhandle high school football team has five state championships: the Canadian Wildcats.

With only one losing season in the last 40 years and five state titles in the last 20, the Wildcats are known and feared throughout the state of Texas. Their success in the past only inspires their future.

“We want to honor the people that came before us, and we want to spend our time in the jersey in a way that the people that come after us will want to honor us,” head coach Andy Cavalier said.

It’s not their effort alone that sets them apart, but more so their tradition of effort.

“Every bit of success we have is gonna be earned, not given to us,” Cavalier said. “We’re not gonna win a single game because it says ‘Canadian’ across the front of our jersey.
