WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a woman for providing contraband to inmates at a federal prison.

Former FCI Williamsburg Correctional Officer, Megan Shara Welch, 33, of Florence, is charged with Criminal Conspiracy, Investigator Jalisa Brown says.

The Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Federal Correctional Institution Williamsburg Special Investigative Services Division with the incident involving Welch.

FCI Williamsburg SISD officers found communication between Welch and an inmate from July 1 to Aug. 4 in which they conspired to bring contraband into the prison in multiple conversations.
